October 23rd
I want to start by saying, it has been the most beautiful fall!
It might be because Autumn is my favourite season, the colours, the cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice candles, lots of yummy tea, reading books and snuggling with my kitty. It’s a vibe all on its own without even trying.
My husband and I went down to Victoria for a little getaway at the beginning of October and it was such a wonderful trip, the island is one of my favourite places in the world and since he had never been, I had to show him around the city.
The people are so outgoing and seemed to have really embodied themselves without fear of rejection or being cast out. It was truly inspiring to me.
While we were exploring, everything was still so green since it’s always raining and they have a very different climate being so close to the ocean. Here are some amazing pictures from our trip –
I felt once again connected to the earth which is what I really needed, being in a big city has definitely been an adjustment but of course, there are positives and negatives to each place.
I do admit, I miss British Columbia quite a bit since it is where I grew up and feel the most at home. However, I am very happy we now live in Calgary as there is so much expansion and wealth here.
What I really appreciate about this city is how I feel quite grounded even though it is busy and the movement of energy is constant.
I make sure to always get in my greens, and proteins each day, workout or go to yoga/meditation classes whenever I can.
I have been learning to simply enjoy the small things, the sun shining into my kitchen when I’m making my morning lattes. Walking through the city and taking in all the amazing architecture, each time you walk one block and look up, it is completely different which is art in itself.
The smell of a candle and the shimmering of the moon. My kitty running around chasing butterflies in the yard. Life is so beautiful but so often, we get wrapped up in our busy lives, we forget why we are here - to have a human experience, to feel every emotion, to learn what makes us unlike anyone else in the world, to take care of these bodies we are gifted.
Just try it out, give yourself 5 minutes a day to just be. Feel the flow of energy all around us, feel all that you are and all that you have.
Have gratitude for your eyes so you can see, your tongue so you can experience amazing food, your hands that can feel the earth, your nose that can smell fresh coffee in the morning, and your ears that let you hear, always.
We take so many things for granted everyday, but when you start to be grateful for all the things you do have, so much more comes into your life so easily and freely.
I hope you take some time each day, just a couple of minutes to simply be. Nothing more, nothing less, just enjoy your breath, your senses, the love in your heart and I promise life will get better in so many ways.
I love you all, thanks for reading 🙂
