July 1st!
In this moment I am sitting in a cafe downtown Calgary, bustling with people and cars, busses and bikes. I am writing this blog post in the sunshine, the warm rays are beaming down on me, already making my day. In this moment I feel grateful, I feel blessed.
11 months ago, my husband and I moved to Calgary and I had no plan. I have completely built my company up from the ground again in this short amount of time. Building relationships by constantly communicating with builders, painters, clients, property management companies, realtors, and the list goes on.
I could not be more proud of myself, sometimes you need to take a step back and take a look at what you have accomplished, and what you have built. It is amazing what you can do in one short year, my life has completely changed! The only constant was my husband, always there for me, supporting and uplifting me. Through all the tears, the days I was unsure I was going in the right direction and taking the correct aligned actions for my dreams.
In 2024 alone (6 months) I have completed 17 projects! It seems impossible, and a little crazy, people always tell me they see my stories and posts on social media and ask how I do it, I don’t have an assistant, no staff, it’s just me. I am proof that if you have a dream and you want it bad enough you will do whatever it takes to make it happen.
I would say, so far my favourite project has been the twin boys’ rooms! I got to redesign 8-year-old twin boys’ rooms, they wanted themes - Hockey for one and Space for the other. I had one day, only 8 hours to completely organize a full living room of toys, books, figurines and school work back into their rooms and make them look aesthetically pleasing and function for their lives.
It was the biggest undertaking of my career and it was the most fun! This is because I got to mix my love of design, child-like wonder, organizing and creativity. These boys were absolutely speechless when they finally got to see their own rooms, and I got to experience that with them. Changing their lives, creating spaces where they get to grow and learn.
With all the ups and downs, I would say the biggest thing I have learned is don’t overdo it. Don’t be too work-focused, balancing life is the utmost important thing if you want to be happy.
I jumped in feet first and never looked back. Make sure to stay balanced and you will enjoy your life so much more.
Thanks for reading :)
